Year 2011-12 India Retail Growth Is Slowest In 8 Years
Year 2008-09 was undoubtedly a very turbulent & depressing year for the Indian economy when GDP growth at 2004-05 constant market price was down at 3.9% and other indicators also plunged: private final consumption expenditure (PFCE) growth rate was 7.1% and India Retail growth was a shade better at 7.4%, as per the latest Report by DAR Analysis. But what is most disturbing in this latest DAR Analysis Report is the advance estimates of Indian Retail performace in recently concluded fiscal year 2011-12
being a low 5.9% growth over previous year - which is also the worst performance in last eight years.
GDP growth at constant market price is the best indicator of growth in private consumption and retail, and consistant increase in retail growth rate is achievable in situation when GDP growth rate remains higher than the rate of growth in private consumption...
